CHANGING SEASONS

CHANGING SEASONS

You wake up one day
In a world you know so well
And everything is just the same
Nothing changed – you could tell

The birds chirp and chatter
The rabbits pause and scatter
The wind softly whistles its Springy tune
FAREWELL TO SPRING,
FAREWELL TO SPRING,
SUMMER IS COMING SOON

It doesn’t seem as if the spring
Would really go away
You close your eyes and marvel
“Oh, what a lovely day”

You’ve woken up another day
In that world you know so well
And nothing is the same
It all has changed – you could tell

The green trees are shading
In the pond, the duck’s wading
The colorful blossoms have long since gone

The garden hose is spraying
The hanging plants are swaying
The wind calmly blows out a dry summer’s tune
FAREWELL TO SUMMER,
FAREWELL TO SUMMER,
AUTUMN IS COMING SOON

It doesn’t seem as if the summer
Would really go away
You close your eyes and marvel
“Oh, what a lovely day”

Your feet crunch and crackle
On a street that you know well
There is burning in the air
Fall is here – you could smell

The children all chatter
The squirrels chase and scatter
And everyone’s rushing to greet the day

The leaves crisp and colored
The whole ground is covered
The branches hang empty and sadly bare

The farmers are calling
“Come, catch the apple’s falling”
The wind blows rapidly
Its old and chilling tune
FAREWELL TO FALL,
FAREWELL TO FALL,
WINTER I COMING SOON

It doesn’t seem as if the fall
Would really go away
You close your eyes and marvel
“Oh, what a lovely day”

You’re trudging in your rubbers
On that street you know so well
And everything is white
It is winter – you could tell

The rooftops are covered
The daffodils are smothered
And icicles drip down the window pane
The flowerpots freeze
And the frost makes me sneeze
And I wonder – will I ever feel warm again?

The snowflakes wet my hair
Feels like death in the air
And the winds fiercely blowing
That same lonesome tune
Farewell to winter,
Farewell to winter,
Spring is coming soon

It doesn’t seem as if the winter
Would really go away
You close your eyes and marvel
“Yes there will be a warmer
