He was known as a man who was mighty
Round his waist was a broad leather belt
Twelve generations he witnessed and saw
And the pain of his brothers he felt
When he saw people worshipping idols
He was angered and swore then and there
Three years no rain, not a trickle of water
Not even dew in the air
אליהו אליהו אליהו הנביא
אליהו אליהו התשבי
אליהו הגלעדי
במהרה יבא אלינו עם משיח בן דוד
And when he spoke, the nation listened, souls all thirsty
And when he prayed, the fires came because of him
Everyone astounded, their voices all rising
Calling out “ה' הוא האלקים”
He said, “ה', I took נקמה for your glory”
Then a chariot of fire he was sent
Never died, nor buried – not like the others
The Heavens took him, through the skies he went
אליהו אליהו אליהו הנביא
אליהו אליהו התשבי
אליהו הגלעדי
במהרה יבא אלינו עם משיח בן דוד
One day he will from the heavens be returning
Bringing only happy news to everyone
Mothers, daughter, fathers and their sons
הנה – I promise he’ll be sent to you אליהו הנביא
לפני – before that day, he’ll come to – אליהו הנביא
לב אבות – parents, children – all as one - אליהו הנביא
