OH, WHEN WILL THE NOVIE ARRIVE

In Jerusalem, our home, lives a carpenter alone
He’s been carving all these years – but no one ventures near
No one buys, no one calls, no one visits him at all
He sits there in his shop and does nothing at all
And there’s a dream he’s dreaming deep within his heart
To build כסא של אליהו part by part
In his hands he’ll bring this chair
When אליהו will come near
He sits, his heart is softly humming
And he dreams to deserve אליהו’s coming
The secret he’s guarding deep inside him
Oh, when will the נביא arrive?
On our street, near our home, lives a shoemaker alone
Not a shoe on his shelf, he just sits there by himself
The needles in his sack have turned rusty and black
And there’s a dream he’s dreaming of a special pair
That he himself will sew for the רגלי המבשר
In his hands these shoes he’ll bear
When אליהו will come near
He sits, his heart is softly humming
And he dreams to deserve אליהו’s coming
The secret he’s guarding deep inside him
Oh, when will the נביא arrive?
There’s a builder we know – started 70 years ago
Who has built all these homes with Yerushalayim stone
Every alley – he recalls, every street has his walls
This man has left a mark in every neighborhood – on every block
And there’s a dream he’s dreaming as he builds each home
For the בית המקדש he will place the corner stone
In his hands this stone he’ll bear
When אליהו will come near
He sits, his heart is softly humming
And he dreams to deserve אליהו’s coming
The secret he’s guarding deep inside him
Oh, when will the נביא arrive?
