Middos

Walking in the supermarket
Dodging all the carts that come my way
It’s Friday afternoon and all are hurrying and scurrying
I wonder if they’re worrying
The cookies may be burning back at home
Or little Esther might be home alone

I wonder if they’re worrying
Of judgements that are passed
As they scoot along too fast
Leaving bystanders aghast
I wonder what impressions were made

Driving in the caravan

Dodging all the cars that double park
The summer’s almost over
There is hurrying and scurrying
I wonder if they’re worrying
The pencil case for Dovid must be blue
And Goldie’s teacher wants each folder new

I wonder if they’re worrying
Of judgements that are passed
As they skip the stop sign fast
Leaving bystander aghast
I wonder what impressions were made

Chorus:
The message is clear
And this is the year
There are so many corrections
That we must attend to
But let us thing ‘fine’ and wait on the line
Say “Excuse me!” when mistakenly we brush past another
And yes, it is true
There is so much to do
The everyday demands can sometimes be distressing

So let’s show the world that we stand above
We do as we learn, a labor of love
We do as we learn

We’re different – not just the way we dress
But different – acting our very best
Looking to do something right
From the start to the very end

Little things are just what matter
Our Gedolim left us with great tales
Simplicity in action, sincerity, integrity, a deeper sensitivity
Those little stories are the ones we tell
Yes, by their actions they have taught us well

The finer little ornaments
That dress up what you’ve done
The smiles that you’ve won
Are counted one by one
And you realize the impressions you’ve made

We’re different….
